and on the western wall..

there is a woman who rides her bike completely shrouded in white plastic and packaging tape. everywhere she travels to, she amasses more and more plastic bags. she hangs out in the middle of the road by beacon field for hours just waiting for one to blow by. i wonder how she decorates her room.

i've been working on the texture of the base- layering tracing paper snowflakes on fabric using wood glue, shellac, chalk, beet juice, graphite, wood stain and irradescent nail polish.

my first widget..

i've gotten an incredible response so far and am "deeply touched" by this show of support from friends, family and complete strangers! if you'd like to contribute, please click on the link and follow the prompts in the little green boxes. every bit helps and..i'm SO close!

i spent most of yesterday cutting snowflakes out of tracing paper and gluing them onto the forms in a nod to the frosty situation out yonder. i dragged my tenacled plant back out and gave it a shell to live in.

co-llaborate

this is the beginning of a "set"/installation that i am making for a piece my friend rebecca rabideau has choreographed. a tangled harvest of forms that are simultaneously animal (internally and externally referenced)and vegetable (being fall, i'm thinking of heartier varieties of root veggies and perhaps an appearance by an artichoke?)

i keep going back to this embroidery scratching post thinking someday it will be "done". i like the back side as much as the front side. i like seeing through it and getting the texture of the hair and stitches as much as i like the shimmer of the nail polish spots on the peacock -like pattern (which is ..of course..not all that visible when back-lit).

stitching on silk, crocheted hair, nail-clippings,unraveled scarf, cut-up crocheted gloves, white pencil, beads, wood stain, nail polish..
